Dr. Penny Hey graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne before completing physician training specialising in gastroenterology at Austin and Northern Health. She later received a National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia postgraduate scholarship to complete her PhD through the University of Melbourne, awarded in 2024.

Dr. Hey is actively involved in clinical research and medical education and currently serves as a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne. She also completed overseas observerships in Toronto and London focusing on complex liver disease and transplant hepatology.

As a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist at Austin Hospital, Dr. Hey is committed to providing expert care in digestive and liver health using evidence-based treatment approaches.
