About Gastroscopy

Gastroscopy is a procedure used to examine the upper digestive tract, including the oesophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. During the procedure, a thin flexible tube with a small camera is carefully guided through the mouth to help diagnose digestive conditions and identify abnormalities.

Our experienced specialists perform gastroscopy procedures using advanced equipment in a safe and comfortable clinical environment. Sedation is commonly provided to ensure patient comfort throughout the examination.

Why Gastroscopy May Be Recommended

Gastroscopy may help investigate symptoms and conditions such as:

  • Persistent reflux or heartburn
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Stomach pain or discomfort
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Bleeding or anaemia
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Indigestion and bloating

Preparation for Gastroscopy

To ensure accurate examination results and patient safety, preparation instructions should be carefully followed before the procedure.

How should I prepare?

You will need an empty stomach for your gastroscopy so the doctor can see clearly and to reduce the risk of vomiting. Do not eat solid food for 12 hours before your procedure and do not drink for 3 hours before your appointment.
Please click the attached instruction for more information.
